This Tuesday January 17th, 12pm at 1153 Centre Street, Jamaica Plain, MA, 1199SEIU members working at Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital will hold an hour-long walkout during their lunch break to demand fair pay and a decent contract.

As one of the richest healthcare institutions in Massachusetts, it is inexcusable that caregivers earn as little as $15.60 an hour. This is a total disrespect to our healthcare heroes who have faced unimaginable hardship and made incredible sacrifices over the past three years. It is also a grave economic and racial injustice, with a predominantly black and immigrant workforce being told by management that they should accept wages that fall well below what is needed to live and thrive in our state. In the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who famously said that, “Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in healthcare is the most shocking and inhumane”, Faulkner workers are standing up for dignity, good jobs and quality care.
